It’s funny how society is greatly influenced by the views of the higher class and almost recreates its expectations to fit the new.  We tend to want to change our lives to fit a life style that is imaginary.  Such examples are the reality shows and games that we allow to influence our lives either making society wanting to be a badass patriot like in (call of duty) or being drunk every day and living on the beach with a bomb body surrounded by beautiful women (jersey shore).  In the movie “Gamer” Slayers is a game were players from all around the world play controlling convicts in a death match.
`               This death match is an all-out war for the inmates but only a game to their owners.  In return for risking their lives the convicts have a chance to win their freedom.  But is that really a fair way to handle death row inmates. I think it is not right besides the fact that they were just being killed for the entertainment of others it allowed everyone to have a violent mentality because the ones controlling the society volunteers didn’t get to feel the pain.
Gamer does share some similarities with the real world. An example the advertising of the game glorifies the hero just as the main characters in movies or TV shows.  I don’t exactly remember if they advertised societies actors but in the book surrogates they advertised them as models with nice bodies.  This is how certain clothing brands such as Abercrombie and Fitch or Hollister choose to advertise their clothing with models with muscles and no shirts as if that was the standard American.  When in reality a study shows that obesity in America is at an all-time high and they brought back skinny jeans.
The only positive that controlling and avatar or surrogate is it allows people to express themselves in a way that they couldn’t through the image that they were giving.  This allows people who are disable to have mobility or blind people to see.  This also allows men who are more feminine to become women and women to not be subject to sexism by becoming men.  But the ones against the new world are the humanz ironic that society was against being a humanz because they actually wanted to live society the old way.  So they ultimately find a way to reverse the brainwashing power of castle.
